Bruce Rigby: received the B.Sc. Eng. degree in 1990, the M.Sc. I earned my Eng. degree in 1992 and my Ph.D. degree in 1998, both in Electrical Engineering, from the University of Natal, Durban, South Africa. Dr. Rigby is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Natal. His research interests include power system dynamics, sub-synchronous resonance, and the application of power electronics to power systems.
Currently a representative for RTDS Technologies, I was previously an academic (and RTDS Technologies customer) in South Africa. He is responsible, as its Technical Manager, for developing and running the Real-Time Power Systems Studies (RTPSS) Centre, a collaborative initiative between the Durban University of Technology (DUT), University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), and Eskom (South Africa’s state power utility and the main industry funder).

Dr. Abdullah Al-Odienat, is a professor at the Mutah University. He has published over 70 papers in international journals and conference proceedings, and two book chapters significantly contributing to the fields of smart grids and renewable energy integration into power grids. Al-Odienat is presently engaged in various national and international projects as a principal investigator and as co-investigator, focusing on critical issues in power system networks and smart grids. Four of these projects involves collaboration with NEPCO (The National Electric Power Company) to develop a wide area real-time monitoring system for the Jordanian power grid, stability analysis of electrical networks with increased penetration Level of Renewable Energy Sources and decarbonising Jordanian energy systems utilising smart solutions based on energy storage.

Dr. Backer is the Vice President of Engineering at Electric Power Group, located in the Los Angeles area in Pasadena, California. He brings more than 15 years of experience in engineering, control center operations, and real-time applications. He graduated from the University of Jordan in 2009, and has worked in the power systems field since then. He is a Senior IEEE member, a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of California, and a Certified Reliability Coordinator in the United States. Dr. Backer received his Master's degree with honors from California State University, and his PhD in Power Systems from the University of Southern California. He served in many positions in the industry, including a lead research and development engineer at Southern California Edison, and a real-time operations engineer at California ISO, assisting engineers in real-time in operating the California power grid. As a Vice President of Engineering, Dr. Backer oversees the use of EPG's applications in the United States power systems and assists users in identifying and analyzing events, trains Engineers and Operators on the use of synchrophasor technology, and supports the development of operating procedures for use in control rooms.

Saravanan J has more than 23 years of experience in power quality products, in which he has held several positions in power quality products and solutions across different geographies. His areas of interest include power quality in utility, industrial & commercial networks, railways, and renewables segment, doing power quality study and design of filter bank.
